At 11 weeks pregnant you may feel more pregnant than you look. You are probably getting used to the idea of becoming a mom, but may have some fears. The best thing you can do about the fears is to build self-confidence in yourself during your pregnancy.

MOM

The baby is growing big enough that your uterus is probably at or above your pubic bone.

Though many women don’t have a nail and hair growth spurt until closer to the third trimester, many women notice it towards the end of the first trimester. It probably won’t mean beautiful hair. Many pregnant women notice changes in their hair that make it more unruly and may even find them selves shedding more hair.

Nausea should continue to decrease for those who are still suffering from morning sickness. As your appetite returns, focus on foods that will help you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Try natural and pregnancy safe remedies if headaches are a problem.

Some women find that constipation is a problem during pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones relax the bowel, which means that bowel motions don't pass through as quickly. Increasing the fibre in your diet and drinking plenty of water will usually help. If you are still having problems, please talk to your doctor, midwife or pharmacist about bulking laxatives that are suitable to use during pregnancy.

BABY

Your baby's internal organs are now all formed, including their ovaries or testicles. Your baby is between 1 ¾ inches and almost 2 ½ inches and still doesn’t weigh an ounce. This won’t last long though as the baby is about to enter the stage when he or she almost doubles in size.

The skin is paper thin and transparent. It will be like that until right before the baby is born. Teeth buds are forming and your baby’s little fists should be able to open and close.

There is lots of room in the uterus and your baby is very active. Before you know it, the baby will be big enough for you to feel it when he or she is bouncing around in there. Movement may be noticeable in an ultra sound.

LIFE

Your energy will still be low and if you have been out of commission due to the fatigue and nausea, you will probably want to spend a little time catching up on things. Rearrange priorities as needed. It is good practice for when your baby comes.

Everywhere you look you can’t help but notice pregnant women. You wonder what you will look like and evaluate their clothing in case it is something you want to add to your pregnancy wardrobe.

You see screaming babies and are certain their parents should be able to control them (they can’t...they are babies…not miniature adults!).

You look at beautiful tiny faces and can’t wait to see your baby’s face. Suddenly the whole world is looking pretty different.

When resting or when you just don’t feel energetic enough, start a notebook and list things you will need for the birth, the baby, and your new life that is coming up. Prioritize the items that are needed. For the big ticket items do some research to get the most for what you have to spend, check into used, and the possibility of borrowing.

Go ahead and take it easy, the fatigue will pass soon and you will be in your second trimester with enough time to get things done.
