At 10 weeks pregnant your baby is ready to pass one of many milestones in its life, it will no longer be in the embryo stage, and your baby is considered a foetus. You are on the verge of entering into your second trimester.

MOM
If you really want to be showing the time has arrived. The trouble is, it will mostly just be by the people really close to you, like your partner. Feel confident that you will show and you will get so big and uncomfortable you will hardly be able to wait to have the baby be born.

Morning sickness is subsiding or has passed by now. Food will start being really appealing again. You and your baby will start gaining weight. You may notice a slight relief from the fatigue that you been feeling.

The emotional roller coaster will probably be with you throughout the pregnancy. Keep a Kleenex near by for those crying spells (even intense joy can bring out a gush of tears) and remember to keep your mouth closed when a crabby spell erupts. There is such a thing as prenatal depression and talk to your health care professional if you have concerns.

Exercise

swimming pregnant womanIf you haven't started already this might be the perfect time to start exercising, always keep in mind not to overdo things and remember that this isn't the time to try losing weight or to start a vigorous training routine. Always talk things over with your healthcare provider before you start exercising.

Some safe and low impact exercises you could do are:

•Low impact aerobics, there are special classes and dvds that cater for pregnant women.

•Swimming, this probably is one of the best exercising routines, as it puts no strain on your body and is friendly to your joints. The water also makes you feel weightless, a definite bonus especially with an expanding belly later in pregnancy.

•Walking, also a low impact form of exercise, its safe and easy and improves cardio fitness.

•Yoga or special prenatal yoga classes, this keeps your body strong and flexible and is an ideal preparation for delivery, which may still seem far away, but believe me it will be there before you know it.

Don't overdo things, a beginner should start excercising for 15 minutes at a time, exercise one day then take one day off, and never exhaust or overheat yourself while exercising. Be sure to replenish lost fluids and keep a bottle of water close at hand.

BABY

The baby is a little over an inch and a half and growing strong. The risk of congenital disorders is reduced. There should still be precautions taken when using some cleaning agents, second hand smoke, types of foods eaten, etc. to give you baby every chance to develop healthy.

Some parents choose genetic testing. There are risks of false positives and many parents end up with perfectly healthy babies. If there is anything wrong with your baby, you have a lifetime to deal with it. Many parents choose to just wait until the baby is born. Since there are risks involved with genetic testing, parents don’t want to risk loosing a healthy baby or damage a healthy baby with genetic testing.

Internal organs are not only developing they are functioning. Organs like the following:

•    Liver
•    Kidney
•    Intestines
•    Brain

Details like toenails will begin to show and peach fuzz on the skin develops.

LIFE

Breastfeeding can help burn off those after baby pounds. Start educating yourself on breastfeeding and seriously consider giving your baby the health benefits that only breast milk can provide.

Include your partner in the prenatal visits and anything else you can think of. It will help bonding with the baby, begin right away.
