Christmas decorating can be spread out over a few weeks, especially if there are a lot of decorations. The decorating can begin a few weeks before Thanksgiving and finished the first week after Thanksgiving to enjoy the decorations as much as possible during the holiday season. Winter type Christmas decorations can be put up early.
Outdoor decorating can be done early to get it out of the way. Christmas lights can be put up early, tested, and then left unplugged until after Thanksgiving. Winter type outdoor decorations, like
snowflakes, can be put up at this time. Have the rest ready to go up right after Thanksgiving.
Most Christmas decorating begins with a Christmas tree. The tree can be the first thing you see when you walk into your home or in front of a window to add to the outdoor decorations. A tree can be simple or elaborate. The tree can be themed or filled with homemade ornaments from kids and ornaments with special meaning.
After the tree is up and decorated, it is time to decorate the rest of the house. It is easy to be in the mood once the tree is up. Add some hot chocolate and put on the Christmas music and you’ll be ready to go. Start with the rooms that are used the most and seen first. If you packed your Christmas decorations room by room, this will be easy.
Christmas decorating checklist:
Be sure to take a few pictures of your rooms once they are decorated. It will help with decorating next year. You will also want to remember how nice the room looks when you are finished, because by the time Christmas arrives, the room might look a little different after a few weeks of “enjoying” the room.
