Christmas is a special time of the year. While a lot of people find it to be quite stressful, it does not have to be this way. You really can enjoy spending time together with your family and your friends that you don’t get to see most of the year.
As you run from store to store shopping and dealing with the crowds, you may find it difficult to think of ideas for fun activities that you can do with family and friends. There are lots of possibilities available. Before you get online to search for Christmas activity
ideas, simply take a minute to think back to your own childhood and the things that helped to create special Christmas time memories for you. Here are some more ideas to add to your list of possible Christmas activities:
CUT DOWN YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS TREE
Why not start off the season by going to a Christmas tree farm and cutting down your own Christmas tree this year? Take the whole family out to find the “perfect” Christmas tree then cut it down, taking turns with the saw. Bring along hot chocolate and Christmas cookies (homemade or store-bought). Take it home and decorate it as your remember your outing.
MAKE HOLIDAY TREATS
Baking Christmas cookies and decorating them is a tradition in many families. If you don’t’ have time to bake cookies, you can buy plain gingerbread men and other cookies and decorate them yourself. Once you have them made, invite your friends over to help you eat them. Not only will homemade cookies taste great, but they will also smell great too. This will help you to recall Christmas time whenever you bake cookies throughout the year. Other goodies that can be made are peanut brittle, fudge, taffy, and chocolate covered pretzels. With Christmas sprinkles, any treat can be turned into a holiday treat. Regardless of what you decide to make, don't forget to have some hot cocoa and whipped cream ready to enjoy with the cookies.
TV FREE NIGHT
You might be surprised how much time this will free up. The night can be used to do a Christmas related activity like decorating the tree, making cards, wrapping presents, and looking at Christmas pictures from previous years. If you have been rushing all day, put on Christmas music while you prepare for the No TV Night Christmas activity. The music can be anything from traditional to classical to contemporary Christmas music. You can easily find some great CDs that are very inexpensive and yet feature some great Christmas music.
During all Christmas activities, make sure to take a lot of pictures so that such a wonderful Christmas will be remembered for generations. These photographs are going to be your triggers to remember your Christmas activities.
From simple to extravagant, Christmas activities become treasured memories because of the time you spend with family and friends. Long after the color of wrapping paper on a present is forgotten, time together will be recalled.
