subway dietThe Subway diet wasn’t created to be a marketing tool for Subway. One man created it because he no longer wanted to be morbidly obese. As a college student, Jared Fogle lived near a Subway sandwich shop. He was inspired to diet with Subway. He ate the same thing day in and day out for a year and lost 245 pounds. He was also able to keep the weight off afterwards. Though the idea didn’t come from Subway, Jared soon became well-known in most households due to the Subway advertising campaign that included his story. The campaign was successful and Subway soon became a leader in providing fresh, healthy, and convenient food. They expanded their 6-inch sub menu to include more subs with 6 grams of fat or less.

Jared’s dad is a medical professional and Jared consulted with him to make sure he was getting proper nutrition from his diet. He was able to stick with the diet for a year, which consisted of eating the same thing every day.

The Subway diet provides something from each food group and has a little less 1,000 calories per day. Jared’s diet consisted of the following:

· No breakfast

· 6" turkey sub and a bag of baked chips for lunch

· 12" veggie sub for dinner, topped with nothing but extra vegetables

· Unlimited diet soda throughout the day

The diet is simple and nutritionally sound. With an expanded menu of 6-inch subs with 6 grams of fat or less, a little more variety can be added in. Many dieters like the convenience of going to a Subway sandwich shop and letting them prepare a fresh and healthy sandwich.

For a dieter who likes to eat often and snack, this diet would be a challenge. Many dieters need more variety than the Subway diet can offer. The availability is limited to the location of local Subways. The high carbs may not suit everyone

The diet is inexpensive due to the minimal meals that are eaten each day.
