The blood type diet guidelines:
· Type O-should eat a high-protein diet that is meat-based
· Type A-should eat a low fat, vegetarian-based diet
· Type B-should eat a varied diet that includes meat, grains, dairy, and vegetable
· Mix of types A and B-should eat a primarily vegetarian diet with occasional meat, fish, and dairy
This diet’s fitness plan would also match the blood type to the types of activities that were common with the emergence of the blood type. For example, the original blood types O were hunters, so blood type O should engage in vigorous activity like cycling or running. Blood types A were settled farmers so that blood type should engage in less active activity like golf or yoga.
Food is divided into 16 categories and each category is put into one of three groups for each blood type:
The diet is a low calorie diet, which helps in weight loss. The diet will fit into most people’s current diet, except maybe the blood type A because it is mostly a vegetarian diet. The blood type diet is successful for long-term healthy weight loss. Organically grown foods may increase the success of this diet. There is free online support on Dr. D’Adamo’s website.
Since foods are different than our ancestors, there may be limited benefit to the diet in current society where foods are processed and grown in depleted soils. The diet is based on blood type, which may or may not match a person’s lifestyle.
The diet can vary in cost depending on the blood type. If organic foods are used in the diet, the cost of the diet will increase. There are no membership fees to follow the diet or to get online support.
